2000 years ago when Jesus was born on Christmas day He was born to a poor family in a manger. There was no wealth to be inherited from Mary and Joseph. Then, 33 years later when He died, He had no possession to leave behind for his disciples. But, He gathered His disciples the same way a dying person would gather his children to tell them about the possessions he is leaving behind. Even though Jesus did not have any possession to leave behind, He left behind something that is worth more than any possession. He said, “Peace I leave with you” John 14:27. Peace is what his disciples inherited from him. What an inheritance!!!
This peace Jesus left behind for his followers is still alive and well filling the lives of those who choose to follow Christ. If you are reading this and you need peace in your life God’s promise to you is: “Do not be anxious about anything…………the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” Phil 4:6-7
