Knowing How To Rest
By Semere @ 3:54 PM :: 248 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Faith/Trust

"In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength” Is 30:15

This is what the Lord said to Israel in Isiaih chapter 30.  He called for their repentance,  rest, quieteness and trust.  In exchange He promised salvation and strength.  What is being asked of them is to rest and be quiet, i.e., do nothing.  What is being promised is salvation and strength.  You see,  physical strength is found in a lot of exercise but spiritual strength is found in rest.

Some of the words used in this chapter to describe the condition of Israel are “those who carry out plans that are not mine….. forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit…….who say to the prophets stop confronting us…. tell us pleasant things”…..such was the state of Israel.

This directly speaks to the need in our lives to carry out everything we do the Lord’s way,  to leave no room for our ideas and plans but his,  to listen to his instructions and let the timeless wisdom found in the Bible guide our lives…..trust in the Lord with all our hearts and stand our ground in times of temptations and trials.

The Lord challenges us to test his faithfulness,  to give him the opportunity to take full charge of our lives and give us the rest that only comes from surrendering our lives to him.

In quieteness and Trust is your strength,
