Do you believe in God? If I present this question to the people of the world, my guess is that the vast majority will say yes. Then, if I ask them who God is, most will have no answer or a vague answer at best. You see, God is not an idea. He is a living God. He is a person. The people in Athens had the same problem back in the Bible times. Their story recorded in the book of Acts tells us that they had an “altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD” Acts 17:23. They worshiped a god they don’t know anything about.
A lot of people today say that they believe in God but fall short of knowing Him and putting their finger on who really their god is. What they fail to realize is that God is a person much like a human being. Just like human beings, God has His own personality. Remember? He created us in his own image. There are things he likes and there are things he dislikes. If you are a believer, you have to know Him, know what he likes and dislikes, what he offers and demands, what his plans are for you etc….Otherwise, you become like the billions of people today who believe in God but don’t know anything about Him. Even though they claim to believe in God, the truth is that they only believe in the idea, the notion, or the concept of God and not God Himself. You don’t want to be like them.
God is one and only one. He is not an idea, a concept, or a notion. He is a person. You should know Him in person.
