He speaks
By Semere @ 8:45 AM :: 262 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: The word/The bible, Obedience

Chapter 3 of 1st Samuel begins by saying In those days the word of the LORD was rare 1 Sam. 3:1. God stopped speaking, or did He? It could also be that He was speaking but nobody was paying attention.

Anyways, before the end of the chapter we read that God went to Samuel, a small boy dedicated to God, and called his name. After checking with Eli Samuels response to that was this: Speak, for your servant is listening. That pleased the Lord. The chapter ends by saying, The LORD continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word. 1 Sam. 3:21

The Word of God was rare in verse 1 but not anymore in verse 21. What happened? God found one little boy who is willing to say Speak, for your servant is listening. This little boys response changed the course of Israels history. That is the power of obedience.

If you think God does not speak to you, think again. Chances are He is speaking to you. Chances are you are not listening. Chances are you are not tuned in. Tune in. Feed on His Word. Be aware of His omnipresence. Stay alert. But God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it Job 33:14 NLT I like this verse in Amharic: Egziabher bandim belielam yinageral. Sew gin ayastewlewim

God is calling out your name. Like Samuel, He wants to hear you say Speak, for your servant is listening.

Blessings,
