Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight This is what Peter said to wives in 1 Peter 3:3-4.
Now, though he said it to wives, I believe the principle is applicable to both men and women. Here Peter talks about two kinds of beauty: One that comes from outward adornment and another that comes from innerself. If you are like me, you have got both(::)
Here is my comparison of these two kinds of beauty:
OUTWARD BEAUTY
- Might help in finding a husband/wife.
- It is about what you have.
- Is what people see.
- Fades out.
INNER BEAUTY
- Not only helps to find husband/wife but also keep the person forever.
- It is about who you are and not what you have.
- Is what God sees (People see it too).
- Never fades. Infact, it grows.
A question: Why do children always look beautiful regardless of the outward look? My theory says it is because they are beautiful on the inside. What do you say?
