This song is from one of the recent albums of Getayawkal and bruktawit my brother brought to my house on Christmas day. After the party I had to drop my brother downtown Toronto and on my way back I was listening to the CD, about 45 minutes ride. Most of the songs are a remix of old favorites but track 8 was a new song that I never heard before, at least it is new for me.
The chorus is a simple line saying kene mitfelgew mindinew. The song is in the form of question to God. Even though that is the form, I heard it more as a question for myself; more like a soul searching question. Not a lot of songs these days have this effect on me and I loved it and put the song on repeat.
The New Year being just around the corner, it forced me to think about what I should carry forward into the new year and what I should leave behind.
I know a lot has been said about new year's resolution and how most of us have failed to keep a lot of resolutions we have made. Regardless, new year is a good excuse to do some soul searching. It is my hope that this song will help you do that.
