“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow” Ps 51:7
At the point in his life when he said this, king David must have felt very filthy, no self respect, depressed and really remorseful. It is probably the worst point in his entire life after making the worst mistake.
What would you do if you were in his shoes? Some would commit suicide, some will go on to further sin, some would throw their hands up in the air and retire from life.
The Bible says, “The blood of Jesus, His son, purifies us from all sin” 1 John 1:7.
Though king David did not have a chance to read this verse, he had the knowledge. The grace of God is all about second, third, fourth etc….chances.
No matter how you feel about yourself today, no matter what kind of mistakes you have already made, a new beginning waits for your embrace. Don’t be hard on yourself. God isn’t. Forget the former things and do not dwell on the past.
Today is the beginning of the rest of your life.
Blessings,
