In our relationship with one another judgment and love are two things we just can’t have together. We can only have one or the other. If we choose to judge people, we will find it hard to love them. On the flip side, we find it hard to judge the people we really love.
In my opinion, one of the huge road blocks to evangelism today is the judgmental environment within the church. Many people are intimidated by the judgmental environment we foster, sometimes unknowingly. Many of us Christians today are too judgmental to love people who fall short of our standards. If you have noticed the first thing most Christians do when they fall is run away from church. Is it because they no longer want to be with the Lord? I doubt it. In fact, of all times that is when they need the Lord. But, I think they are running away from our judgment. Isn’t it sad to loose a brother/sister in Christ simply because I poke my nose in their lives and start judging because they made a mistake? Mind you, this is a person Christ had to die for to bring him/her to Church. Read Romans 14 on this.
If you want people to change their way of life, role modeling is the way to do it. Judgment doesn’t teach. It hurts.
The fact of the matter is that the only person God allows you to judge is yourself. “If we judge ourselves, we wouldn’t come under judgment” 1 Cor. 11:31. “Erasachinin binimeremir balteferedebn neber”. People who spend so much time judging others end up with no time left to judge themselves. They end up doing the exact opposite of what the Bible says to do.
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged.” Jesus.
Judgment doesn’t teach. It hurts.
