"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Luke 6:38
I bet you that you have heard countless sermons on this verse. I can also safely assume that 90% or more of those sermons are about giving money or some material thing.
Is money what Jesus had in mind when He said this?
Do this: Pretend that you have never heard any sermon on this and go read the whole paragraph and the two following paragraphs. You will clearly see that He was talking about forgiveness and how we should not judge or condemn but forgive. He was talking about giving forgiveness.
Here is what I found on the Guinness Book of World Records:
“The world’s best-selling and most widely distributed book is the Bible, with an estimated 2.5 billion copies sold since 1815. It has been translated in to 2,233 languages and dialects”
Praise the Lord!!! This is something we all should brag about. But the Bible is also the most misunderstood and misinterpreted book of all times.
My point? READ YOUR BIBLE. Don’t live on sermons. Read your Bible carefully like you read your chemistry text book. Don’t use your denominational magnifiers or glasses. Every time you read it, read it just like it is, as if you have never read it before.
Don’t speak to the Bible. READ IT.
