Repentance
By Semere @ 9:05 AM :: 292 Views :: 2 Comments :: :: Spiritual Maturity, Forgiveness

When Adam sinned,  his first reaction was to run away from God.  That is what sin does to people.  Most people avoid the things of God not because they don't believe but because of sin.  Even as Christians when we sometimes mess up it is tempting to skip spiritual routines.

The other thing Adam tried was to blame the woman....She gave it to me....

Not only that but Adam has also tried to blame God.  Remember?  he said to God “The woman YOU gave me made me do this”.  Now that is too much.

Unfortunately,  all these things did not work for Adam.  You see,  the problem with Adam is not only that he made a mistake of disobeying God but he also made it worse by not saying sorry.  I am amazed at how much my two year old resists saying sorry.  He just hates saying that one word.  I only need to look at my son to be reminded that we are all descendants of Adam.

When you are genuinely sorry about what you have done, it shows and God loves it.  Genuine “sorry” is the ticket to heaven.  I don’t know how you plan to get to heaven but that is how I got there.

Praise the Lord!!!

Thank you seme for this devotional....Most of us resist to come to God or church when we make mistakes but this is when we need God the most. The bible tells us in Romans 5:20"But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more...." This is the truth that will keep us victorious. When we sin, lets run to God and not away from him. I will leave you with one of my favorite verses..." For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Romans 4:15

I just need to talk about experience. I have seen many of them even hardcore PENTE's going away just because of the guilt mentality and others accusation. I believe, this devotional should be more of a discussion. Thanks both Seme and Yoseph..
